Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Williams (ranked 2876 p4p, 338 weight class) and Sakuraba Kagawa (ranked 3666 p4p, 404 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sakuraba Kagawa!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kagawa misses with a takedown attempt

and Williams counters by moving into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Kagawa's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kagawa is trying to pull guard but Williams turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Williams pulls guard successfully.
Williams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kagawa's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kagawa is on top in guard.

Williams looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Williams content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kagawa wants to sweep but Williams has passed to side control!
Kagawa tries to improve position but can't.

Williams tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Williams has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kagawa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kagawa tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Williams presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kagawa can't escape the position.
Williams pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Williams breaks from Kagawa's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Williams get's back to his feet.

Williams gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams gets underhooks to prevent Kagawa's takedown attempt.
William Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sakuraba Kagawa.
Kagawa tries to land knees in the clinch but Williams avoids the damage to the body.
Kagawa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Williams walks away with a smile on his face. Kagawa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kagawa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kagawa fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Williams closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kagawa is trying to escape back to his feet but Williams uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Williams stands up.
Kagawa tries to clinch up

and Williams counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kagawa is looking to get back to is feet but Williams passes into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Williams has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kagawa throws a lazy head kick

and Williams moves into the clinch.

Williams lands a takedown into guard.
Kagawa is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Williams dives into side control.

Williams lands a nice forearm strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams is staying tight to Kagawa's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Williams grinds an elbow into Kagawa's temple.
Williams controlling the position from side mount.

Williams tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Williams has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Williams tries for a kimura but Kagawa is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kagawa tries to clinch up

and Williams counters with a single leg into guard. Kagawa didn't expect that.
Williams slips nicely into half guard.
Williams perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Williams passes the guard and advances to mount!

A nice elbow there by Williams.
Kagawa is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams works his way to his opponent's back.
Kagawa tries to escape but Williams has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Williams has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Kagawa is in real trouble here. Williams gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Kagawa is tapping out! Williams wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). William Williams!
