No joy there for Bamboo Face, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bamboo Face wants to land a leg kick but Nikil Jr is out of range.
Bamboo Face paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nikil Jr shoots for a double leg takedown but Bamboo Face sprawls well. He's pushed Nikil Jr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ubungu Bamboo Face has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenrick Nikil Jr.

Nikil Jr is just content to waste time from the top position. Bamboo Face takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Nikil Jr drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bamboo Face manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nikil Jr has Bamboo Face in his guard.
Nikil Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bamboo Face can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nikil Jr is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bamboo Face is aware though and is defending well.

We've been hearing good reports from Bamboo Face's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Nikil Jr is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Bamboo Face frees his head nicely. Oh but Nikil Jr has switched to an armbar! Bamboo Face is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
