PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bonerz McGee (ranked 395 p4p, 51 weight class) and Demetrius Tektas (ranked 666 p4p, 91 weight class). Tektas is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Alexander The Great. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bonerz McGee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Demetrius Tektas!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGee misses with an uppercut.
Tektas cracks the inside of McGee's front leg.
Tektas moves out of range of the body kick.
Tektas lands with a hook. McGee tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
McGee just misses with a punch to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Tektas, right into the meat.

McGee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tektas to score an easy takedown into full guard.

McGee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tektas defends it easily.
McGee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tektas is one step ahead there.

McGee has his foot on Tektas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tektas works his way back into a safe position though.

McGee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tektas throws a big elbow that misses.
McGee keeping moving, preventing Tektas from controlling successfully.
Tektas landing some decent shots from guard.
Tektas wants to control from the top but McGee keeps moving.
McGee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tektas is one step ahead there.

McGee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tektas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tektas stands up over McGee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McGee looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Tektas has picked McGee up and slammed him! McGee can't keep hold of the triangle and Tektas manages to pass to side control!
McGee is looking for a sweep.
Tektas wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGee keeps working.
McGee is looking to reverse the position.
McGee is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tektas off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Tektas's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
McGee lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Tektas.
I really don't envy Tektas right now.
McGee scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Even with his hooks in, McGee manages to miss with strikes from the back.

McGee has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Tektas has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

McGee is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Tektas trying to control the position but McGee manages to sink in the hooks.
McGee is trying to stick to Tektas's back but Tektas is turning into McGee. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in McGee's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Tektas.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bonerz McGee dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Tektas counters with a nice uppercut.
McGee tries to land a leg kick but Tektas saw it coming and moves away.

Tektas gets caught napping as McGee dives in and scores a takedown. Tektas manages to retain guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tektas is on top in guard.

Tektas's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Tektas is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

McGee working for submissions but it's allowed Tektas to get to half guard.
McGee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGee is refusing to be controlled, as Tektas sits in half guard.
McGee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

McGee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tektas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tektas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tektas's guard.

Tektas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McGee chips away with some ground and pound.
Tektas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
McGee with a flurry of punches that miss.

McGee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Tektas can't keep his opponent in guard - McGee advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

McGee is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tektas has managed to free his arm - good work.
McGee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Tektas wants to control but McGee is keeping busy and won't allow it.

McGee lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Tektas shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
McGee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A big left from McGee misses.
Tektas shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. McGee eats them both and turns towards Tektas to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

McGee is pushing Tektas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Tektas is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but McGee is defending well.

Bonerz McGee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demetrius Tektas.
Tektas has McGee pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McGee manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

and Tektas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

McGee seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Demetrius Tektas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
McGee throws a hook to the side of Tektas's head but Tektas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Tektas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Tektas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tektas misses with a few strikes there.

Good leg kick by McGee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Demetrius Tektas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McGee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
