PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mateusz Biernat (ranked 1062 p4p, 133 weight class) and David Cain (ranked 1170 p4p, 142 weight class). Biernat comes to the cage accompanied by Someday. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that David Cain was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Mateusz Biernat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cain!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Biernat doesn't manage to clinch there - Cain circles away.
Cain connects with a jab.
Biernat tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
It seemed like Cain was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Biernat on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Mateusz Biernat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Biernat throws a sloppy head kick and Cain moves out of range easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cain! But no joy.
Biernat stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cain.
Cain connects with a single shot there.
Some wild striking there from Biernat.
Biernat definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Biernat pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Biernat pushes Cain up against the cage in a clinch.
Biernat is trying to pull guard but Cain turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Cain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cain lands a lovely overhand right.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cain cracks Biernat with an open hand slap.


Biernat is rocked!
Biernat drops his hands momentarily and Cain takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Oh Biernat is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Biernat instigates a clinch.

Cain breaks from the clinch.
Cain lets loose with a powerful body kick. Biernat will feel that in the morning.
Biernat seems to have got his legs back now.
Biernat misses with a few strikes there.
Cain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Biernat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cain explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Biernat drives through and clinches with Cain against the cage.
Cain told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Biernat comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like David Cain has been cut.

Cain pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Biernat fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Cain.
Biernat displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Cain throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Biernat doesn't manage to clinch there - Cain circles away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Danga de danga de dang - Biernat scores with a four punch combination!


Cain is rocked!
Cain connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Biernat tumbling to the canvas! Cain pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Biernat was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). David Cain!
