PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Street Fighter (ranked 424 p4p, 53 weight class) and Kron Silva (ranked 534 p4p, 67 weight class). Fighter comes to the cage accompanied by You Know How I Do It. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Street Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kron Silva!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva is looking to chop away at Fighter's legs.

Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Silva trying to control but Fighter is working from the bottom.
Fighter looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Silva seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva looking to pass the guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Fighter's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter seems keen to control Silva's posture.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fighter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fighter controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter is pulling down on Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Silva, at least for the moment.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Silva wants to control from the top but Fighter keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Fighter connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Silva's hands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into Fighter's guard.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fighter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fighter is trying to keep Silva in close.
Silva wants to control from the top but Fighter keeps moving.
Fighter trying to control the position.
Fighter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Fighter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Fighter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fighter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Silva wants to control from the top but Fighter keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fighter was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Further stalling from Fighter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kron Silva dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fighter avoids it really well and circles away.
Street Fighter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Silva feints and as Fighter raises his hands in defense, Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fighter is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fighter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Fighter has Silva pulled in close to control his posture.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Fighter is keeping the position.

Fighter pushes a forearm under Silva's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Silva is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Street Fighter!
Street Fighter took some time post fight to say the following; 'The only underdog on the whole card? GTFO and gimme my 12K and Louie his 10Gs.'.
