The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Snape counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've been told by Snape's head coaches at Q Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Snape counters with a crisp right hand that drops Yanagamichi! Snape lets Yanagamichi back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

It looks like Sakuma Yanagamichi has been cut.
John Snape has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sakuma Yanagamichi.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Snape.
Yanagamichi is still on wobbly legs! Can Snape finish him?
Sakuma Yanagamichi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yanagamichi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Yanagamichi seems to have recovered his senses.
Snape moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Snape is on top in guard.

Snape is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Snape stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yanagamichi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yanagamichi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Snape got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yanagamichi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Snape has managed to get both his arms back between Yanagamichi's legs - danger averted.

Yanagamichi is looking for a triangle but Snape pushes his legs off easily.

Yanagamichi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Snape gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Snape has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Yanagamichi to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Snape is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Yanagamichi pulls down on the head and he's put Snape to sleep! This one is all over!
