PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kabala Magaluff (ranked 665 p4p, 94 weight class) and Jeff Johnson (ranked 1017 p4p, 143 weight class). Magaluff comes into the arena with Shalom blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jeff Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson jabs Magaluff to the body, keeping him at a distance.
We've been hearing reports that Magaluff has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Magaluff.
Johnson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Magaluff is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Johnson.
Johnson scores with a nice right hand.
Johnson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
A slow jab from Johnson misses its intended target.
Johnson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Johnson clobbers Magaluff with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Magaluff thuds his right hand into Johnson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnson tries to bum rush Magaluff with a series of wild strikes but Magaluff uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Magaluff changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Magaluff throws an overhand right that lands on Johnson's shoulder, as Johnson tries to avoid the shot.
Magaluff misses with an uppercut.
Magaluff missing with a left hand there. Johnson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Johnson feints and then cracks Magaluff's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Magaluff down.

Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Magaluff bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Johnson counters with a straight right hand.
Magaluff goes for a double leg but Johnson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Johnson continues to drive forward.

Magaluff swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

A telegraphed right hand from Magaluff misses the target.
Magaluff dives in and grabs Johnson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes down on Magaluff's head and hops out.
Johnson appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Magaluff lands a nice hook to Johnson's body. Johnson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Johnson tries to move into range but Magaluff moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Magaluff tries for a takedown but Johnson circles away easily
enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kabala Magaluff. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.
Johnson lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Magaluff throws a hook to the side of Johnson's head but Johnson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Magaluff takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Johnson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Magaluff's hands.
Johnson connects with a single shot there.
Johnson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Johnson digs a good body shot into Magaluff's ribs.
Johnson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Magaluff at a distance.
Johnson lands with a nice body punch.
