PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Porter Vincent (ranked 3675 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Porter (ranked 4345 p4p, 0 weight class). Porter has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Porter Vincent is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Porter Vincent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Porter!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vincent shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Porter pinned against the cage. Porter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Vincent shoots for a double leg takedown but Porter sprawls well. He's pushed Vincent's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A low kick from Vincent misses

and Porter counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Porter.
Porter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vincent swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Porter won't allow Vincent to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vincent is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vincent keeping moving, preventing Porter from controlling successfully.

Vincent has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Porter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Vincent clinches up against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Vincent breaks from the clinch.
Vincent throws a head kick that Porter semi-blocks.
Porter looks winded!

Porter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Porter lands in his opponent's guard.
Vincent wants to sweep here but Porter controlling him for the moment.
Vincent preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Porter wanted to stand there but Vincent had control of the position.

Porter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Porter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Vincent looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Porter with a poor takedown

and Vincent counters by moving into the clinch.
Vincent has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Porter after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Porter Vincent. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vincent successfully pulls guard.
Porter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Porter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vincent holds on and takes a little breather.
Porter throws an elbow that misses. Vincent uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Porter's guard. Nice move by Vincent!

Porter can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vincent controls the pace.

Vincent stands up from Porter's guard - Vincent perhaps looking for a knockout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vincent changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Porter tries to avoid it but Vincent manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Porter to the ground. Porter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Porter! But no joy.
Vincent shoots in and drives through. Porter sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Porter Vincent will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Vincent rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Porter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vincent's guard.

Vincent has his feet on Porter's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Porter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vincent tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Porter paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Vincent breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Porter shoots in and drives through. Vincent sprawls well.
Vincent appears to be looking for a big counter.
Vincent throws the kick towards the body but Porter avoids it.
And Porter tries to counter it with a takedown but Vincent pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Vincent shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Porter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vincent as he avoids it easily.
Porter Vincent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A lazy left from Vincent finds it's target.

Vincent goes for a double leg but Porter avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Porter continues to drive forward.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Daniel Porter seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Vincent tries to close the distance and clinch but Porter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Vincent shoots in for a takedown but Porter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Porter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Vincent manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Porter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Vincent avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Daniel Porter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vincent connects with a nasty looking knee right to Porter's face.

Porter Vincent showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Vincent, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
