PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vic Vinegar (ranked 2895 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Moore (ranked 2201 p4p, 0 weight class). Vinegar comes to the cage accompanied by Birds of War. Moore has chosen Sad Man's Tongue by Volbeat as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vic Vinegar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Moore!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vinegar walks into a jab.
Vinegar lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Moore slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Vinegar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Moore slips a jab from Vinegar.
Moore uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vinegar.
Moore takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A telegraphed right hand from Vinegar misses the target.
The fighters circling - Moore throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A cross from Vinegar lands.
Vinegar jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Moore changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Some wild striking there from Moore.
Moore throws a hook but Vinegar blocks it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Vinegar enables Moore to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vinegar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

My spies in 3Band MMA ($800/week) inform me that Moore has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Moore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vinegar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Moore slips nicely into half guard.
Moore works his way into side control.
Moore tries to move to mount but Vinegar blocks the move with his legs.
Moore is chipping away with strikes.
Vinegar seems a little lost for a moment, as Moore dominates the positioning.
Vinegar is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Moore off and has taken his back!
Vinegar doesn't have the hooks in and Moore manages to turn into his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vinegar is trying to control the position but Moore postures up.
Moore throwing strikes from guard but Vinegar blocks nicely.
Moore lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Vinegar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moore is one step ahead there.
Moore is looking to work some ground and pound but Vinegar has wrist control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vinegar holds on and takes a little breather.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vinegar lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Vinegar lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Vinegar won't allow Moore to sweep him here.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Vinegar throws an overhand right that lands on Moore's shoulder, as Moore tries to avoid the shot.
Moore with the counter takedown but Vinegar avoids it easily.
Vinegar throws a hook but Moore blocks it.
Moore throws out a powerful jab.


Vic Vinegar's cut is getting worse.
Vinegar cracks a nice hook into Moore's ribs.
Moore shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vinegar as he jumps to the side.
Moore shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vinegar sprawls well. Vinegar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Moore gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moore bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Vinegar's head.

Donk. Vinegar catches Moore right on the button with a cross.

Vinegar lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Vinegar leaves Moore with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Vic Vinegar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Moore.
Moore avoids the head kick by Vinegar.
Moore uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vinegar.
Vinegar throws a body punch but Moore moves out of range.
Moore drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Vinegar defends it well.
Moore uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

and Vinegar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
No luck for Moore with that takedown attempt.
Vinegar cracks Moore with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Vinegar swings for the body but Moore moves out of range.
Good work by Vinegar as he checks the leg kick.

Moore ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vinegar moves away.
Vinegar uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Moore.
Vic Vinegar is winning the standup battle so far.
The fighters circling - Moore throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Vinegar misses with a hook

and Moore counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Moore.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Moore has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Vinegar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Moore.

Moore lands a nice shot to the head.

Vic Vinegar's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Vinegar tries to hold on but Moore pushes him away.
Carl Moore has got the better of the ground game so far.
Moore throws a strike there. Vinegar manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Vinegar is looking to improve his position.
Moore thows a huge punch but Vinegar dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vinegar tries to roll over but Moore keeps him under control.
Moore is nestled in close to Vinegar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.


Jeez, Vic Vinegar's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Vic Vinegar's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Carl Moore!
An out of breath Carl Moore thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
