Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donovan Meyer (ranked 4243 p4p, 469 weight class) and Aylin Shah (ranked 5535 p4p, 519 weight class). Donovan Meyer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Donovan Meyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Aylin Shah!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Dean Styles and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Meyer is looking to clinch.
Shah lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Meyer backs up against the cage.
Meyer tries to close the distance and clinch but Shah swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shah throws a combination. Meyer tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Shah rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Meyer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Shah throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Meyer counter with a right hand.
Meyer scores with a head kick. Shah tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Shah lands a nice hook to Meyer's body. Meyer takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shah throws a right and a left that Meyer avoids nicely.

Meyer closes the distance and pushes Shah back into the cage.

Shah jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Meyer walks away with a smile on his face. Shah gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

It looks like Aylin Shah has been cut.
Meyer lands a hook that snaps the head of Shah backwards.
Meyer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Shah avoids it.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Meyer just misses with a elbow thrown towards Shah's brow.

Shah slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shah is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Meyer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Meyer.

Shah throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Meyer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Shah is in Meyer's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shah wants to control from the top but Meyer keeps moving.
Shah might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Meyer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Shah is looking to work some ground and pound but Meyer has wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Meyer is on top in guard.

Aylin Shah has got the better of the ground game so far.
Meyer won't allow Shah to sweep him here.

Shah had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Meyer defends it easily.

Shah is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Meyer frees his head nicely. Oh but Shah has switched to an armbar! Meyer is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
