PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bunker (ranked 333 p4p, 15 weight class) and Klaus Chugman (ranked 533 p4p, 28 weight class). Tony Bunker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Bunker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bunker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Chugman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bunker to the mat! Bunker manages to get full guard.
Bunker controlling Chugman's posture.
Bunker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Chugman trying to control but Bunker is working from the bottom.
Bunker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chugman controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chugman tries to free his leg and advance position but Bunker is retaining full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bunker working a defensive guard but Chugman passes into half guard.

Chugman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Bunker has a hand on Chugman's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Chugman takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Bunker is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Chugman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Chugman avoids the attempt from Bunker to control.
Bunker is looking to improve his position but Chugman isn't that keen on the idea.
Chugman wants to control the pace but Bunker is squirming around nicely.

Chugman with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Chugman can't control as he wanted to and Bunker manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Chugman wants to advance to full mount but Bunker doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Chugman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bunker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Chugman tries to free his leg and advance position but Bunker is retaining full guard.
Bunker pulls Chugman in close to prevent any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Klaus Chugman dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Chugman takes a swing at Bunker's ribcage but misses.
Bunker getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Bunker throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Chugman.
Chugman walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bunker checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Chugman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bunker swivels and escapes.
Klaus Chugman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chugman tries to score with a low kick but Bunker moves his leg out of the way.
Bunker misses with a looping right.
Bunker takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A left lands for Bunker.
Chugman throws a solid leg kick but Bunker takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Chugman.
Chugman tries for a takedown but Bunker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bunker drops down looking for a counter takedown but Chugman sprawls and moves away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bunker tries to buck Chugman off but Chugman is having none of it.
Chugman tries to advance to mount but can't.
Klaus Chugman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bunker is trying to control Chugman's posture but Chugman avoids it.

Bunker gets back to half guard.
Bunker is controlling Chugman's trapped leg to prevent Chugman from advancing to side control.

Bunker is concentrating on defense, preventing Chugman from advancing position.
Chugman is taking a breather. Bunker says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bunker keeping hold of Chugman's head, controlling as best he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chugman wants to pass the guard but Bunker is defending well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Chugman dives in for a single leg takedown but Bunker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Tony Bunker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Chugman.

Bunker tries to keep at a distance but Chugman has taken the fight into the clinch.

Chugman tries to land a knee to the head but Bunker blocks with his arms.
Bunker misses with a hook from the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Bunker.
Chugman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Bunker lands with a left to the head.
Bunker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Chugman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bunker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bunker lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Bunker lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Chugman throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bunker blocks it with crossed arms.

Bunker swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Chugman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bunker uses from the top position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chugman looking for a sweep. Not yet Chugman, not yet.
Bunker trying to control but Chugman is working from the bottom.
Bunker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bunker's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Chugman wants to control the position but Bunker says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Chugman is trying to control but can't.
Chugman might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bunker haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Chugman shoots in looking for a takedown but Bunker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chugman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bunker changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Chugman instigates a clinch.
Bunker lands with a left to the head.
Bunker can't find room to land a body shot as Chugman controls the action.
With the fighters up against the cage, Chugman throws an elbow but misses.
Still in the clinch, Bunker scores with a nice short uppercut.
Chugman stalling in the clinch but Bunker improves position.
Chugman is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Bunker is keeping busy.
Bunker misses with a punch on the inside.
Chugman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Chugman has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bunker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Bunker can't escape the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chugman working for a choke but Bunker is defending well.

Well, with Chugman on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Bunker is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chugman doesn't have the hooks in and Bunker manages to turn into his guard.

Chugman is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Chugman wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Bunker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Chugman controls Bunker momentarily but Bunker frees himself.
Bunker postures up in Chugman's guard and throws a big left but Chugman blocks it.

Chugman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bunker connects with a single shot there.
Bunker looks to land a left hand but Chugman moved out of range nicely.
Chugman wants to counter with a clinch but Bunker pushes him away.
Chugman throws a hook but Bunker avoids it easily.
Bunker swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Chugman ducks under a wild hook from Bunker.
No luck for Chugman with that takedown attempt.
It looked like Bunker wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Tony Bunker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Chugman.

Bunker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bunker stands up over Chugman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
