PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Bangsit (ranked 45 p4p, 8 weight class) and Boo Lee (ranked 213 p4p, 29 weight class). Lee has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 2, fighting out of London, Andy Bangsit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 2, fighting out of New York, Boo Lee!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bangsit throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lee's waist but Lee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bangsit off to one side.
Bangsit dives in for a single leg takedown but Lee sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lee misses with a hook

and Bangsit counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Lee manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bangsit keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Bangsit goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lee prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Bangsit. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A right handed body shot lands from Lee.
Lee throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A nice right hand lands inside from Lee.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bangsit is trying to drag Lee to the mat but Lee just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bangsit has hold of one of Lee's legs. Lee is fighting the takedown attempt but Bangsit gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Lee has his feet on Bangsit's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Bangsit is rocked!

Bangsit feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lee wants to get back to his feet but Bangsit is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lee is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bangsit dives into side control.

Bangsit is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lee has escaped the position, nice work there.
Lee tries to escape but Bangsit is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bangsit is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lee is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Lee bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bangsit tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lee swivels and escapes.
Lee is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Bangsit gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Bangsit is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lee wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bangsit is working for a submission of some sort.
Lee is trying to stand back up but Bangsit is controlling him

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lee manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Bangsit uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lee.

Lee punishes Bangsit's body with a nice straight punch.
Bangsit looks for a takedown but Lee sprawls well.

Bangsit avoids the head kick by Lee.

Boo Lee dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bangsit drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lee sprawls and moves away.
Lee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bangsit was well out of range. Poor timing from Lee.
Bangsit tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Lee manages to circle out of the way.

Lee leaves Bangsit with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bangsit shoots in for a double leg but Lee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lee lands with a kick to the temple. Bangsit shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Lee counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Oh Bangsit is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bangsit shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lee sprawls well. Lee wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bangsit gets slowly back to his feet.
Lee looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Boo Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bangsit tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bangsit somewhat.

Bangsit drops back looking for a leg! Lee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lee manages to kick Bangsit off! Bangsit jumps back into Lee's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee wants to stand and escape but Bangsit is having none of it.
Bangsit advances position into side control!
Bangsit tries to score with some ground and pound. Lee controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bangsit goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lee rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bangsit's guard! Nice work there by Lee!
Lee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bangsit is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lee is aware though and is defending well.

Boo Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
