Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelis Mulder (ranked 4984 p4p, 506 weight class) and Wrestle Guy (ranked 5013 p4p, 509 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nelis Mulder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wrestle Guy!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mulder shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Guy's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guy wants to sweep here but Mulder controlling him for the moment.
Guy is trying to keep Mulder in close.
Mulder trying to control the position from guard on top but Guy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mulder content to stall in guard here.
Guy has control of Mulder's left arm, preventing Mulder from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mulder controls from within his opponent's guard.

Mulder is fighting to break Guy's control of his arms but Guy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mulder changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Guy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guy can do anything to dispel that myth.
Guy is not content to let Mulder control the position.
Guy is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Guy wants to control but Mulder postures up.

Mulder scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Guy to see if he's OK.
Mulder working the ground and pound but Guy is defending the strikes.
Mulder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Guy tries to improve position but can't.
Guy avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mulder.
Guy manages to get back to half guard.
Guy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mulder is working away from the top position though.

Guy wants to improve his position but Mulder is controlling well.
Mulder is thwarting Guy's attempts to control the position.
Mulder thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Guy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Mulder controls from within his opponent's guard.
Guy wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Guy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mulder was covering up waiting for the punch and Guy finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mulder is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Mulder drives through with a takedown into Guy's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Guy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mulder stands and throws Guy's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Guy is looking for a sweep.
Guy prevents Mulder from improving position.
Mulder gets to mount! Guy was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Guy tries to reverse the position but Mulder maintains control.
Guy wants to hold on but Mulder pushes him away.

Mulder has control of Guy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Guy regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mulder sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Guy is trying desperately to improve position.
Guy holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Mulder tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Guy tries to lock up and control but Mulder gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Guy tries to roll but Mulder sticks to his back.
Mulder is not going to allow Guy to sit and survive in this position.
Mulder just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Guy manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mulder's guard. Nice work there by Guy.
Guy wants to control from the top but Mulder keeps moving.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Guy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Guy passes into half guard.
Mulder avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Guy.
Guy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mulder's head.

Mulder is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Guy pulls his head out easily.
Mulder is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Guy can do to turn this around?
The fighters are battling for position here. Mulder manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guy wants to control from the top but Mulder keeps moving.

Guy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Guy lands in his opponent's guard.
Mulder wants to get back to his feet but Guy passes into half guard.

Mulder has his hands clasped together around Guy's back. He's all about the action.
Well, if Guy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mulder is looking for a triangle but Guy pushes his legs off easily.

Guy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Guy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Guy blocks the strikes from Mulder.
Mulder blocking the ground and pound attempt from Guy.
Guy sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Guy wants to advance to full mount but Mulder doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Guy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Guy controlling from the top position.
Guy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mulder seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Guy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Guy wants to control from the top but Mulder keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Guy darts in looking for a takedown but Mulder gets double underhooks and turns Guy into the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mulder tries a head kick but it misses.

Guy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mulder tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Guy is in Mulder's guard.

Mulder has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Guy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nelis Mulder showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mulder has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
