Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Mary Saunders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Preston!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Saunders. Those never looked like landing.
Saunders shoots in looking for a takedown but Preston manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Saunders's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Saunders gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Saunders will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Preston throwing strikes from guard but Saunders blocks nicely.
Preston controls from within his opponent's guard.
Preston throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Let's hope that Preston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Saunders is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Preston wanted to stand there but Saunders had control of the position.
Saunders utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Preston closes the distance and clinches.
Preston stalls.

Preston works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Preston is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Saunders working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Preston.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saunders looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Saunders controls Preston momentarily but Preston frees himself.
Preston not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Preston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Saunders changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Preston tries to avoid it but Saunders manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Preston to the ground. Preston escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Preston scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Preston rushes Saunders and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Preston turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Saunders bucks up and tries to throw Preston off but instead Preston has got his back!
Preston thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Saunders really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Saunders tries to escape but Preston has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Preston tries to keep control of the position but Saunders is staying busy.

Saunders is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Preston is breathing heavily.
Saunders is keeping busy.
Preston throwing wild punches that miss their target.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Preston controlling the positon.

Preston looking to break Saunders's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Saunders remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Preston will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Mike Preston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Preston has managed to clinch.

Preston has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Saunders is trying to keep an underhook but Preston manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Preston fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Saunders to the ground. Preston is now in Saunders's guard.
Preston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Preston looking to sit in guard and control but Saunders gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Preston manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Saunders tries to stall but Preston uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Preston wants the takedown. Saunders is fighting it off but Preston persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Saunders's guard against the cage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Preston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Preston is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Preston has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Preston wanted to stand there but Saunders had control of the position.

Saunders has his foot on Preston's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Preston works his way back into a safe position though.

Preston wants to control from the top but Saunders keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Preston wants to stand and escape but instead Saunders has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Saunders trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Saunders's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mary Saunders has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Preston is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Preston is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mike Preston comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Preston has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
