PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Kravac (ranked 215 p4p, 31 weight class) and Yacob Nilsen (ranked 360 p4p, 55 weight class). Nilsen has chosen Lil Wayne - Right above it as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Samuel Kravac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yacob Nilsen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nilsen swings for the body but Kravac moves out of range.
Kravac takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nilsen throws a looping overhand right but Kravac ducks down to avoid it.
Nilsen lands a slapping body shot.
Nilsen throws a big shot that misses.
Kravac shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nilsen as he jumps to the side.
Kravac throws a predictable looking body shot
and Nilsen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Samuel Kravac has been cut.
A jab from Nilsen misses.
Kravac showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nilsen.
Nilsen misses with a straight right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kravac shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Nilsen has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kravac is on him like a limpet, forcing Nilsen back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kravac is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nilsen has momentary wrist control but Kravac slips an elbow through the middle.
Kravac passes into half guard.

Kravac is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Nilsen is looking for a sweep. Kravac is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nilsen won't allow Kravac to pass to mount.
Nilsen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kravac.
Kravac landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Nilsen tries to get to full guard but Kravac has control of the leg.

Kravac wants to work for an arm triangle but Nilsen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kravac throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kravac is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nilsen is just riding it out for now. Kravac eventually gives up the hold.
Nilsen is trying to get back to full guard.

Kravac tries to pass to full mount but Nilsen defends it.

Kravac is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Nilsen wants to control but Kravac is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Nilsen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kravac haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Kravac is looking for a kimura but Nilsen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kravac to get the leverage.
Nilsen works his way to full guard. Good work.
Nilsen seems keen to control Kravac's posture.
Nilsen looking for a sweep. Not yet Nilsen, not yet.

Kravac drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nilsen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nilsen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nilsen!

Kravac parries the strikes from Nilsen easily there. Nilsen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kravac to escape.

Kravac sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kravac trying to control but Nilsen postures up.
Kravac keeping control of the position.

Nilsen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nilsen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kravac was well out of range. Poor timing from Nilsen.
Kravac lands a really nice looking cross but Nilsen seems unphased.
Nilsen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nilsen misses with a hook.

Kravac closes the distance and clinches.

Nilsen has clasped his hands together around Kravac's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Kravac is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nilsen off and has taken his back!

Nilsen is having to fend off submission attempts from Kravac, who is looking to sink in the choke. Kravac doesn't have the hooks in though and Nilsen manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kravac manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nilsen manages to get himself to full guard.

Kravac drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nilsen dives on top into guard.

Kravac looking for a triangle here. Nilsen is fighting it but it looks tight! Kravac pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Nilsen is tapping out - this one is all over!
