Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sydney Thift!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Danny Corleone!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thift lands with a straight right. Corleone didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Danny Corleone has been cut.
Thift tries to bum rush Corleone with a series of wild strikes but Corleone uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Corleone tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Corleone ducks under a wild hook from Thift.
Thift throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Thift throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Corleone.
Corleone slips under a jab from Thift.

Corleone feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Corleone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thift swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A looping hook to the body misses from Corleone. Thift does a little dance to reset his feet.

Corleone closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thift to the mat! Thift manages to get full guard.

Thift wants to sweep here but Corleone controlling him for the moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thift is on top in guard.

Thift stands up over Corleone, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Thift has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Thift postures up and lands a big shot to Corleone's brow.

Thift makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Corleone has momentary wrist control but Thift slips an elbow through the middle.
Thift keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Corleone's head.
Thift lands a couple of digs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Corleone had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thift defends it easily.

Thift got a little sloppy there for a moment and Corleone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thift has managed to get both his arms back between Corleone's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Corleone dives in and grabs Thift's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thift pushes down on Corleone's head and hops out.
Thift is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Corleone avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Corleone misses with a low kick.
Thift throws a hook to the side of Corleone's head but Corleone sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sydney Thift seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thift slips a straight right by Corleone.

Thift lands a left and a right that sends Corleone crashing to the canvas! Thift dives into mount looking to finish!


Corleone is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thift postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Corleone badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Thift around the waist but Thift pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Thift is the winner by TKO! Thift jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sydney Thift!
