Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 1064 p4p, 148 weight class) and Brady Jackson (ranked 1355 p4p, 193 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Olha a Explosão. Royce Gracie had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Royce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brady Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails with the takedown
and Jackson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jackson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gracie.
Jackson cracks Gracie with a good jab.
Gracie dodges the punch combination from Jackson.
Gracie fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.
Gracie jabbing away but nothing is landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely.
A shot to the body from Gracie misses
and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jackson misses with a wild combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson throws a jab when Gracie was well out of range.
Jackson looks to throw the jab but Gracie is out of range.
Gracie misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely.
Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gracie takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson jabs Gracie to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Gracie fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jackson to the ground. Gracie is now in Jackson's guard.
Gracie works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jackson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jackson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Jackson pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jackson defends it well.

Gracie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson tries to kick Gracie off but Gracie keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jackson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Jackson defends the submission attempt.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease.
A big left from Jackson misses.
Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Jackson sprawls well.
Jackson takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses.
Jackson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jackson duly obliges.


It looks like Royce Gracie has been cut.
Gracie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gracie misses with a wild body shot.
Jackson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gracie throws out the jab.

Jackson lands a big right hand that sends Gracie crashing to the mat! Jackson stays standing though and waves Gracie back to his feet!


Gracie is rocked!
Jackson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Gracie looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gracie is looking to wear down Jackson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Jackson cracks Gracie with a hook to the temple - Gracie is on wobbly legs here! Jackson swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Gracie falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Jackson wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Brady Jackson!
A relieved looking Brady Jackson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
