Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joao Pedro Mauricio DeSilva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mew Choo!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choo fails in his attempt to clinch.
DeSilva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Choo.
DeSilva misses with a wild body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Choo! But no joy.
Joao Pedro Mauricio DeSilva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
DeSilva swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Choo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but DeSilva moves away.
Choo throws a body shot but no joy.
DeSilva connects with a looping right hand.
Choo scores with a jab. DeSilva acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

DeSilva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - DeSilva lands in his opponent's guard.
DeSilva slips nicely into half guard.

DeSilva is looking to take a break and control but Choo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

DeSilva seems to be working for a kimura but Choo defends the submission attempt.
DeSilva thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
DeSilva lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Choo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but DeSilva scores with a couple of nice shots.

DeSilva is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Choo is trying to maintain the position but DeSilva is very close to passing his half guard.

DeSilva content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Choo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Choo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but DeSilva pulls his head out easily.

DeSilva seems to be looking for submissions.
We've been hearing that DeSilva has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Choo won't allow DeSilva to pass to mount.

DeSilva is keen to just control but Choo is a slippery customer.

DeSilva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Choo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

DeSilva wants to pass to mount but Choo is defending the position.

DeSilva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Choo is looking to clinch.
DeSilva half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Choo throws a hook but DeSilva blocks it.
DeSilva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Choo pinned against the cage. Choo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Choo swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Choo misses with a hook. DeSilva ducked under it nicely.
DeSilva waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Choo.
Good shot there by DeSilva.
DeSilva defending well as Choo loads up on a big left hand.
DeSilva swings for the body but Choo moves out of range.
A jab from Choo does it's job there.
DeSilva takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big left from Choo misses.
Choo walks into a left hand.
DeSilva goes for a double leg but Choo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Choo continues to drive forward.
DeSilva misses with a looping right.
DeSilva throws a big shot that misses.
Choo gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DeSilva keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Choo.
DeSilva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Choo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
DeSilva uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Choo.
Choo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Choo drives through and clinches with DeSilva against the cage.
Choo throws a head punch that misses.

DeSilva pulls guard effortlessly.

DeSilva looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Choo is defending well. DeSilva quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Choo has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! DeSilva celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
