Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Pereira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodolfo Viera!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pereira tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pereira drives through and clinches with Viera against the cage.
Pereira goes for a takedown attempt but Viera pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Viera staying out of range there.
Viera dives in and grabs Pereira's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pereira pushes down on Viera's head and hops out.
Viera gets the takedown into side control.
Pereira being controlled for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Pereira's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Viera stands up and beckons Pereira to his feet.
Viera wants to clinch up but Pereira keeps it at a distance.
No luck for Viera with that takedown attempt.
Viera will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pereira doesn't manage to clinch there - Viera circles away.
Viera unleashes a big counter combination but Pereira bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Pereira slips under a jab.
It looked like Pereira was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Viera is defended easily by Pereira.
Alex Pereira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodolfo Viera.
Viera takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Rodolfo Viera has been cut.
Pereira gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pereira looking to control but Viera passes into half guard.
Viera is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Viera working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Viera wants to pass to mount but Pereira is defending the position.

Viera has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pereira wants to control but Viera is having none of it.
Pereira is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pereira is looking to get to half guard.
Viera looking to control and managing it successfully.
Pereira is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Viera locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Pereira is forced to tap!
