Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Valentin Hadjiev (ranked 6672 p4p, 579 weight class) and Max Roberts (ranked 1974 p4p, 267 weight class). Roberts has chosen Break Stuff as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Valentin Hadjiev! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Max Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?
Hadjiev dives in and grabs Roberts's left leg, looking for a takedown. Roberts pushes down on Hadjiev's head and hops out.
And Roberts tries to counter it with a takedown but Hadjiev pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hadjiev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roberts as he avoids it easily.
Roberts dives in for a single leg takedown but Hadjiev sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Roberts clinches up against the ropes.
Roberts has hold of one of Hadjiev's legs. Hadjiev is fighting the takedown attempt but Roberts gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hadjiev (0) vs (2) Roberts
Roberts trying to control the position from guard on top but Hadjiev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hadjiev has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Roberts has passed into side control.

Hadjiev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Roberts wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Roberts tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Roberts is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hadjiev has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Hadjiev regains half guard.

Hadjiev gets full guard.
Hadjiev looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hadjiev keeping moving, preventing Roberts from controlling successfully.
Roberts's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Roberts looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Roberts wants to control from the top but Hadjiev keeps moving.
Roberts trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Roberts trying to control but Hadjiev is working from the bottom.
Hadjiev is looking to cinch up a triangle. Roberts throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hadjiev's body to avoid the submission. Hadjiev has instead reached around Roberts's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hadjiev arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Valentin Hadjiev!
A relieved looking Valentin Hadjiev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
