Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rosendo Bass (ranked 22453 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Mendoza (ranked 4625 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Mark Mendoza enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rosendo Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bass manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mendoza keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Mendoza decides to pull guard.
Mendoza keeping moving, preventing Bass from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bass drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mendoza manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bass has Mendoza in his guard.
Bass throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mendoza trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bass really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mendoza is looking to work some ground and pound but Bass has wrist control.
Bass will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bass throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Bass not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mendoza in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mendoza postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mendoza got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bass has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mendoza has managed to get both his arms back between Bass's legs - danger averted.
Bass is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mendoza defends well.
Bass utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mendoza slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Bass.
Mendoza moves nicely into side control.
Mendoza misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Mendoza misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mendoza is putting a hurting on Bass here, landing some big shots from side control.
Mendoza is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Bass will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Mendoza decides to stand back up.
Mendoza tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bass swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bass appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Mendoza drives through with a takedown into Bass's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Mendoza jumps guard and drags Bass to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bass stays in close to Mendoza's body and controls the position.
Mendoza has momentary wrist control but Bass slips an elbow through the middle.
Bass throws a big right hand that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bass postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bass is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mendoza is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Mendoza dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Mendoza closes the distance and clinches.
Mendoza looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Mendoza is looking to break free of the clinch but Bass has double underhooks.
Mendoza manages to pull guard.
Bass throwing strikes but missing.
Bass trying to control but Mendoza is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bass drops back looking for a leg! Mendoza is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mendoza manages to kick Bass off! Bass jumps back into Mendoza's guard.

Mendoza is looking to stand up but Bass isn't so interested in that idea.
Bass wants to control from the top but Mendoza keeps moving.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mendoza pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bass changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mendoza feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bass escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendoza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mendoza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mendoza decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mendoza gets the takedown into side control.
Bass tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mendoza presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Bass throwing hammer fists to the chest of Mendoza. What's that going to do exactly?

Bass is squirming around, avoiding Mendoza's attempts to control the action.
Mendoza punching from mount but Bass doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Mendoza there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Bass is trying to escape the mount.
Mendoza unloads with some shots from mount but Bass bucks and avoids them well.
Mendoza looking to ground and pound but Bass is blocking nicely.
Mendoza thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Mendoza throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Bass because Mendoza loaded up on that one.

Bass is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Bass is trying desperately to improve position.
Bass tries to hold on but Mendoza postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mendoza tries to control but Bass wriggling away.
Mendoza has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mendoza might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bass haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mark Mendoza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bass's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Mendoza shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Oh Bass is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mendoza postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Bass covers up, he's hurt! Mendoza keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Mendoza and the ref steps in to end the fight! Mendoza can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
