Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tomomi Tsuruta (ranked 15 p4p, 3 weight class) and Charley Hanagan (ranked 65 p4p, 10 weight class). Hanagan has chosen Guilty Until Proven Innocent as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomomi Tsuruta!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charley Hanagan!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsuruta takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hanagan wants to clinch.
Tsuruta appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Hanagan misses with an uppercut. Tsuruta saw that one coming.
Nice shot by Hanagan.
Hanagan throws out a loose jab but Tsuruta uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hanagan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Tsuruta rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hanagan's guard! Nice work there by Tsuruta!

Hanagan has his foot on Tsuruta's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tsuruta works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Tsuruta has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hanagan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tsuruta can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tsuruta stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanagan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Hanagan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tsuruta defends well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Charley Hanagan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tsuruta looks to land a right hand but Hanagan moved out of range.
Hanagan tries to counter with a clinch but Tsuruta shakes him off and moves away.
Hanagan's corner calls for a 1-2. Hanagan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Tsuruta counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hanagan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tsuruta as he avoids it easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Tsuruta counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tomomi Tsuruta will probably get the nod.

Tsuruta is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hanagan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hanagan's back!

Hanagan is fighting to break Tsuruta's control of his arms but Tsuruta is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Hanagan misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hanagan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tsuruta sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Hanagan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tsuruta as he jumps to the side.

Tomomi Tsuruta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charley Hanagan.
Hanagan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
It looked like Tsuruta was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hanagan.

Tsuruta has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hanagan finds it's way round the side to connect with Tsuruta's head.

Hanagan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tsuruta.
Tsuruta uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hanagan has time to react.
Tsuruta lands with a big left! Hanagan is wobbled badly! Tsuruta comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Hanagan to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tomomi Tsuruta!
