Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcello Mygueel (ranked 6141 p4p, 495 weight class) and Danny Olmo (ranked 5518 p4p, 472 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcello Mygueel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Danny Olmo!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olmo shoots in for a takedown but Mygueel shows good takedown defense.

Mygueel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Olmo tries to improve position but can't.
Olmo keeps trying to improve his position.

Mygueel tries for a kimura but Olmo is defending well.
Mygueel lands an elbow.
Olmo sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Mygueel is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Mygueel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mygueel content to control rather than advance.

Mygueel is working for a kimura here but Olmo manages to reverse the position and he's now in Mygueel's guard.

Mygueel can't keep his opponent in guard - Olmo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Olmo is working for an americana but Mygueel has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Olmo was thinking about the submission.
Mygueel is looking to sweep but instead, Olmo has passed into half guard.

Olmo is trying to work for a kimura but Mygueel is defending well.

Mygueel has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Olmo is on him like a limpet, forcing Mygueel back against the cage.

Mygueel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Olmo uses from the top position.

Olmo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mygueel looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mygueel looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mygueel!

Mygueel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Olmo quickly recovers to half guard.

Mygueel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Olmo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mygueel, into his guard.

Olmo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mygueel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Olmo has Mygueel in his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Olmo is on top in guard.

Olmo is working for a kimura but Mygueel is defending it quite comfortably.
Mygueel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Olmo can do to turn this around?

Mygueel manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Olmo keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Olmo is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mygueel to keep the fight standing.

Mygueel turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mygueel manages to end up in side control.

Mygueel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Olmo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Olmo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mygueel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marcello Mygueel will probably get the nod.

Olmo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Mygueel throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Olmo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mygueel is in Olmo's guard.

Mygueel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mygueel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mygueel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Olmo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mygueel has managed to get both his arms back between Olmo's legs - danger averted.
