Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Peter (ranked 4325 p4p, 383 weight class) and Jake Ryan (ranked 24744 p4p, 530 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ryan's choice of entrance music: No Limit. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Peter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peter showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ryan.
Ryan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ryan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peter's waist but Peter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ryan off to one side.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Peter manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Ryan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Peter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Peter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ryan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Ryan stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A frustrated look appears on Ryan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Peter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ryan walks away with a smile on his face. Peter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ryan rushes Peter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ryan tries to pull guard but Peter forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Ryan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Peter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Peter is trying to force a seperation but Ryan has the dominant position.
Peter gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ryan.

Peter shoots in for a takedown but Ryan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ryan has hold of one of Peter's legs. Peter is fighting the takedown attempt but Ryan gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Peter is looking to stand back up but Ryan counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Peter.

Ryan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Peter sees it coming and defends easily.

We've been informed that Ryan has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Ryan seems to be working for a kimura but Peter defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Ryan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Peter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ryan as he jumps to the side.

Ryan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Peter is trying to defend but Ryan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Peter kicks Ryan off and gets back to his feet.
Peter avoids a punch combination nicely.

Ryan is looking to break free of the clinch but Peter has double underhooks.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryan wants to sweep here but Peter controlling him for the moment.
Peter wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.
Ryan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Peter manages to get himself to full guard.


Peter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ryan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ryan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ryan wants to get up but he can't break Peter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ryan postures up in Peter's guard and throws a big left but Peter blocks it.

Peter has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ryan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Ryan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peter but Peter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ryan shoots in for a double leg but Peter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ryan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peter circles away quickly and effectively.
Peter goes for a double leg but Ryan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ryan continues to drive forward.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I would just about give that final round to Jake Ryan.
I've got Ryan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
