Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Giuseppe Amodei (ranked 1285 p4p, 134 weight class) and Brock Steve (ranked 1426 p4p, 149 weight class). Giuseppe Amodei has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giuseppe Amodei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Brock Steve!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amodei misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steve.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Steve has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Amodei comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Amodei throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Amodei shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Amodei is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Steve is just riding it out for now. Amodei eventually gives up the hold.
Amodei moves nicely into side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amodei working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Amodei advances to full mount.
Amodei trying to control but Steve is having none of it.
Amodei wants to take his opponent's back but Steve doesn't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Amodei with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Steve is squirming around, avoiding Amodei's attempts to control the action.

Amodei is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Steve has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Steve!

Amodei looking to hit a scissor sweep but Steve is one step ahead there.
Amodei seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Amodei wants to control but Steve passes easily into half guard.
Amodei tries to get to full guard but Steve has control of the leg.

Amodei has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steve can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Amodei has his foot on Steve's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steve works his way back into a safe position though.
Amodei is trying to keep Steve in close.

Amodei escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steve gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Steve must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Steve wanted to stand there but Amodei had control of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Amodei escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steve gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Amodei had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Steve defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Amodei tries to score with a low kick but Steve moves his leg out of the way.
Steve misses with a right hand
and Amodei counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A cross from Amodei lands.
Amodei lands a jab to the head.
Giuseppe Amodei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Amodei lands with a straight right. Steve didn't see that one coming.
Amodei throws a leg kick that misses.
Steve is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters circle momentarily. Amodei darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Amodei smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Amodei is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Steve can do to turn this around?

Brock Steve is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Steve counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Amodei takes a swing at Steve's ribcage but misses.
Steve takes one to the chin there.
A left lands for Amodei.
Amodei misses with a body kick.
Amodei connects with a single shot there.
Amodei slips a jab and a cross from Steve.
Amodei throws an overhand right that lands on Steve's shoulder, as Steve tries to avoid the shot.
Steve looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Steve throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Steve takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Amodei throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Steve stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steve takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Amodei lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Amodei walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Steve checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Amodei wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Amodei connects with a good right hand that stumbles Steve. Steve circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

and Amodei counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Amodei trying to control but Steve is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Amodei is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Steve is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Amodei pushes down on Steve's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Amodei is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Amodei wants to free his trapped foot but Steve is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Amodei looks to land a left hand but Steve moved out of range nicely.

Steve ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Amodei. Steve shrugs it off though.

Amodei keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

A solid leg kick lands there for Amodei.
Steve throws a right and a left that Amodei avoids nicely.
Amodei drops down looking for a counter takedown but Steve sprawls and moves away.
Amodei digs a good body shot into Steve's ribs.
Amodei checks a leg kick.
Amodei throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steve sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Steve takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Amodei connects with a looping right hand.
Amodei throws a right hand that Steve ducks under and follows up with a left that Steve also avoids with ease.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Steve! But no joy.
Amodei throws a leg kick but Steve checks it.
Steve unleashes a big counter combination but Amodei bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

A nice inside leg kick there by Amodei. That's going to slow Steve down.
Amodei punishes Steve's body with a nice straight punch.
Steve on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Good leg kick by Amodei there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Amodei throws a looping overhand right but Steve ducks down to avoid it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Amodei looks for a takedown but Steve sprawls well.
Steve slips a straight right by Amodei.
Steve is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Steve throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Amodei.

A nice leg kick lands there from Amodei.
Amodei shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Steve but Steve pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Steve gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Amodei misses with a straight right.
Amodei digs a good body shot into Steve's ribs.
The fighters circling - Amodei throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Steve throws a counter combo.
Amodei fails with the takedown.
As Amodei backs off Steve throws a huge counter combo but Amodei manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Giuseppe Amodei. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Amodei misses the shot to the body.
Brock Steve has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brock Steve is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Amodei feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Steve's calf.

Well Amodei has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
