Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Syco Souirrel (ranked 2568 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stewart McCaffrey (ranked 5234 p4p, 0 weight class). Souirrel has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stewart McCaffrey!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCaffrey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McCaffrey fails with the takedown.
Souirrel stuffs the takedown attempt from McCaffrey. McCaffrey gets slowly back to his feet.
Souirrel half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Syco Souirrel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stewart McCaffrey.
McCaffrey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Souirrel throws a quick counter head kick but McCaffrey was just out of range.

Horrible takedown attempt by McCaffrey or perhaps it was just good defense by Souirrel, which made it look bad.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Souirrel darts in and clinches McCaffrey up against the cage.

McCaffrey gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Souirrel regains guard.
McCaffrey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McCaffrey throws a strike but Souirrel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Souirrel wants to control from the top but McCaffrey keeps moving.

McCaffrey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McCaffrey looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Souirrel pushes past his half guard into mount!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McCaffrey can do anything to dispel that myth.

Souirrel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McCaffrey is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

McCaffrey is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Souirrel with the ground and pound from mount.

McCaffrey tries to improve his position but instead Souirrel has taken his back!
McCaffrey wants to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Even with his hooks in, Souirrel manages to miss with strikes from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Syco Souirrel dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

McCaffrey throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Souirrel tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McCaffrey is in Souirrel's guard.
McCaffrey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souirrel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Souirrel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McCaffrey working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Souirrel's head.
Souirrel thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McCaffrey's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Souirrel controls McCaffrey momentarily but McCaffrey frees himself.

Souirrel has his foot on McCaffrey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McCaffrey works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Souirrel controls McCaffrey momentarily but McCaffrey frees himself.

McCaffrey lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.


Souirrel is rocked!
McCaffrey arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Souirrel's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Stewart McCaffrey!
