PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Konichiwa Jempsa (ranked 2003 p4p, 259 weight class) and Jonny Dash (ranked 2925 p4p, 368 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Konichiwa Jempsa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonny Dash!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dash misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Dash. Jempsa shrugs it off though.
Dash has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A swing and a miss from Dash.
Jempsa paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Dash changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jempsa tries to avoid it but Dash manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jempsa to the ground. Jempsa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A low kick from Dash is predictable there
and Jempsa counters with a one-two to the body.
Dash lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Konichiwa Jempsa has been cut.
Dash throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Jempsa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jempsa lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jempsa stops Dash from standing up.

Dash really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jempsa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jempsa stays in close to Dash's body and controls the position.

Jempsa is in close to Dash's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jempsa distracts Dash with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Dash has momentary wrist control but Jempsa slips an elbow through the middle.
Dash wants to get back to his feet but Jempsa is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jempsa works over Dash with some ground and pound from guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dash can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jempsa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dash's guard.

Jempsa seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jempsa landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jempsa controlling the pace.
Dash tries to kick Jempsa off but Jempsa keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dash has hold of Jempsa's hands but Jempsa slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jempsa is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Jempsa not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Dash looks like he's trying to stand up.

Jempsa is nestled in close to Dash, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jempsa winds up and cracks Dash with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Still in half guard, Jempsa seems content to control.
Dash is looking to escape.
Jempsa not doing much here.
Jempsa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jempsa stops Dash from getting back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jempsa seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Dash tries to sprawl but Jempsa drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Dash kicks off Jempsa and gets to his feet.
Dash misses with a head kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dash tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dash enables Jempsa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dash manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jempsa prevents Dash from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Jempsa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dash was covering up waiting for the punch and Jempsa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Dash wants to stand and escape but Jempsa is having none of it.
Jempsa chips away with some ground and pound.
Jempsa content to stall in guard here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jempsa's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dash avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jempsa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dash can do to turn this around?
Jempsa works over Dash with some ground and pound from guard.

Dash is looking to stand up but Jempsa isn't so interested in that idea.
Jempsa cracks Dash with a solid left hand.
Jempsa is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jempsa takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jempsa lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Dash takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Konichiwa Jempsa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dash takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Dash wants to get back to his feet.
The referee asks Jempsa politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jempsa prefers to stall for the moment though.
Dash is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Dash pushes Jempsa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jempsa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

BOOM! Jempsa connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jempsa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Dash looks a forlorn figure.

Dash is rocked!
Dash's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Dash is still in real trouble! Can Jempsa finish him?
Jempsa scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Jempsa postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Dash badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Jempsa around the waist but Jempsa pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Jempsa is the winner by TKO! Jempsa jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Konichiwa Jempsa!
