Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Wangler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimbo Kern!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kern's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kern duly obliges.
Wangler slaps away a takedown attempt from Kern, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kern throws a combination. Wangler tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kern is looking to clinch but Wangler is avoiding it.
Kern works Wangler's body with a nice hook.
Kern misses with a combination

and Wangler counters with a shoot takedown. Kern fights it but they end up in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wangler has gone for a leg lock! Kern slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wangler's guard.


Wangler looking for a guillotine here but Kern defends easily.

Wangler is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wangler working for a triangle but Kern defends it easily.
Kern trying to control the position from guard on top but Wangler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wangler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wangler tries to get out of the position.
Kern connects with a couple of short punches.

Wangler is looking for a triangle but Kern pushes his legs off easily.

Wangler looking for subs off his back but Kern has passed one foot through into half guard.

Wangler is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kern pulls his head out easily.
Wangler moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kern lands a couple of elbows.
Wangler keeping moving, preventing Kern from controlling successfully.
Kern passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The ground and pound from Kern seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Wangler sneaks back into half guard.
Kern working the head and body with strikes.
Wangler looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Kern wants to control but Wangler is keeping him busy.

Kern is trying to work for a kimura but Wangler is defending well.
Kern thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Wangler looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Wangler looking for submissions off his back.
Kern prevents Wangler from improving his position.

Kern seems to be working for a kimura but Wangler defends the submission attempt.
Kern is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Wangler trying to hold on to Kern's head to control him but Kern postures up.
We've been informed that Kern has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Wangler avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kern.
Wangler tries to get to full guard but Kern has control of the leg.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like Kern is going to stand back up.
Wangler is trying to control but can't.
Wangler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kern's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kern's back!

Wangler is working for a rear naked choke. Kern is not defending it well and Wangler has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Kern refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Kern's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Luke Wangler!
