Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake The Dog (ranked 1481 p4p, 189 weight class) and Bill Newton (ranked 1113 p4p, 150 weight class). The Dog comes to the cage accompanied by Meditation Time. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake The Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Newton!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Dog missing with a left hand there. Newton was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Newton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Newton ducks under a wild hook from The Dog.
Newton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but The Dog moves away.

Newton fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging The Dog to the ground. Newton is now in The Dog's guard.

Newton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The Dog is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Newton defends it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The Dog takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Newton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in The Dog's guard.

Newton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! The Dog is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Newton, into his guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jake The Dog will probably get the nod.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I think The Dog has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Jake The Dog was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
