The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smecker throws out a loose jab but Yamamura uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smecker avoids a kick to the body.
Yamamura misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smecker blocks a head kick by Yamamura.
A leg kick checked by Smecker.
Yamamura throws a leg kick but Smecker checks it.
Smecker has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Yamamura is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Smecker throws a hook to the side of Yamamura's head but Yamamura sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Yamamura misses with a head kick.
Yamamura tried to score with a low kick but Smecker checks it.
Yamamura is looking to chop away at Smecker's legs.
Yamamura takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Yamamura takes one to the chin there.

It looks like Kenji Yamamura has been cut.
Yamamura tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smecker cracks Yamamura with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Yamamura looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Smecker finish him?

Yamamura is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yamamura walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Yamamura limp body while Smecker jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
