The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valenca closes the distance and clinches.

Valenca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tavares tries to keep at a distance but Valenca has taken the fight into the clinch.
Valenca keeps control of Tavares as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Valenca has Tavares pressed against the cage, preventing Tavares from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Valenca just misses with a elbow thrown towards Tavares's brow.

Valenca breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
