PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Nilsen (ranked 1214 p4p, 181 weight class) and Luke Rockstar (ranked 5582 p4p, 536 weight class). Rockstar has chosen You're The Best Around as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dennis Nilsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Rockstar!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rockstar will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nilsen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rockstar throws a body shot but no joy.
Nilsen shoots in and drives through. Rockstar sprawls well.

Nilsen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rockstar was covering up waiting for the punch and Nilsen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nilsen wants to control from the top but Rockstar keeps moving.
Rockstar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rockstar keeping moving, preventing Nilsen from controlling successfully.

Rockstar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nilsen defends well.
Nilsen trying to control but Rockstar is working from the bottom.

Nilsen controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Nilsen has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nilsen rushes Rockstar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rockstar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nilsen regains guard immediately.
Nilsen pulls Rockstar in close to his closed guard and prevents Rockstar from doing any damage or advancing position.

Nilsen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rockstar defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nilsen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rockstar is aware though and is defending well.

Nilsen is looking for a triangle but Rockstar pushes his legs off easily.
Rockstar trying to control the position from guard on top but Nilsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nilsen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rockstar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rockstar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Nilsen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rockstar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nilsen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rockstar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nilsen is keeping the position for now.

Nilsen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rockstar lands a couple of elbows.

Rockstar avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rockstar connects with a couple of short punches.
Rockstar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nilsen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rockstar has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Nilsen to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rockstar is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Nilsen pulls down on the head and he's put Rockstar to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dennis Nilsen!
Dennis Nilsen tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
