Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Mauricio DeSilva (ranked 195 p4p, 28 weight class) and Bill Newton (ranked 266 p4p, 38 weight class). DeSilva comes to the cage accompanied by Body Head Anthem - Roy Jones Jr Feat. Magic & Choppa). Bill Newton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 26 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Newton!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeSilva shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
And Newton tries to counter it with a takedown but DeSilva pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Newton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
DeSilva misses the shot to the body.
DeSilva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
DeSilva throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A nice leg kick lands there from DeSilva.
DeSilva takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A slow jab from Newton misses its intended target.
Newton works the jab nicely.
We've been informed that Newton has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Newton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but DeSilva was well out of range. Poor timing from Newton.
Newton drops his hands momentarily and DeSilva takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
DeSilva lands with an uppercut that bounces Newton off the cage and back into range.
Newton throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent DeSilva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Newton moves forwards but DeSilva connects with a nice, crisp jab.
DeSilva motions for Newton to come forward. DeSilva throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

DeSilva looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Newton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Newton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from DeSilva.
DeSilva walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Newton is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down DeSilva rather than just go for the knockout.
DeSilva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Newton.

DeSilva tries to land a front kick but Newton steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A nice inside leg kick there by DeSilva. That's going to slow Newton down.

DeSilva's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and DeSilva duly obliges.
DeSilva misses with a hook.
DeSilva stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Newton tries to clinch up but DeSilva circles away and keeps his distance.
DeSilva is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Newton gets cracked with a nice right hand there by DeSilva.

DeSilva gets caught flat footed, as Newton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

DeSilva looks like he's trying to stand up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
