Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Long Thai (ranked 765 p4p, 97 weight class) and Mikey Day (ranked 753 p4p, 96 weight class). Long Thai had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Long Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mikey Day!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day fails in his attempt to clinch.
Day shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thai but Thai pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Day lands a nice shot to the body.
Mikey Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Day counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Day goes for a double leg but Thai avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thai continues to drive forward.

Day jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thai walks away with a smile on his face. Day gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Thai is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Day can do to turn this around?

Thai bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Day's head.

Day shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Day was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

My spies in Gym inform me that Day has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Day lands a couple of good shots and Thai has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Mikey Day has got the better of the ground game so far.
Day gets his hands free as Thai looks to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Long Thai.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thai, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
