The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soup with a lazy takedown attempt
and Higgenbottom counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Soup thinking.
Maggot Soup seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soup shoots in for a takedown but Higgenbottom shows good takedown defense.
Higgenbottom lands a nice hook to Soup's body. Soup takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Ellsworth Higgenbottom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maggot Soup.

Higgenbottom leaves Soup with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Higgenbottom definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soup shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Higgenbottom is looking to get back to is feet but Soup passes into side control.

Soup tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Soup has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Higgenbottom throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Soup shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Soup was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Soup has an Americana. Higgenbottom didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Soup is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Soup hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
