The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcallum avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sandford tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mcallum counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sandford's knee momentarily.
Nice uppercut lands for Mcallum. That snapped Sandford's head back.

Mcallum moves into the clinch successfully.
Sandford jumps guard but Mcallum turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Sandford wants a takedown but no success here.
Mcallum lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Mcallum is trying to improve his position.

Sandford stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Mcallum closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mcallum moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Sandford closes the distance and clinches.
Mcallum wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Mcallum's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Mcallum manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Sandford pulls Mcallum into guard.
Mcallum working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sandford manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcallum manages to get himself to full guard.

Mcallum wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Sandford is now in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kent Mcallum will probably get the nod.

Mcallum lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Sandford fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mcallum sprawls well initially but Sandford persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Daniel Sandford overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mcallum is in trouble now - Sandford has advanced to mount!
Mcallum takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Sandford postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mcallum looks a forlorn figure.
Sandford takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mcallum tries to lock up and control but Sandford gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mcallum tries to improve his position but Sandford has taken his back! Sandford has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Mcallum tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Sandford pushes Mcallum away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
