The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turturro fails to land the takedown.
Mircea leaves Turturro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Turturro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Turturro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mircea is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Turturro closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mircea's guard.
Alexandru Mircea overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mircea bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turturro's guard.

Turturro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mircea defends it easily.

Mircea stands and steps away. Turturro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
No luck for Turturro with that takedown attempt.

Turturro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mircea sprawls well. Mircea wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Turturro gets slowly back to his feet.

Turturro closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Turturro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mircea is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Turturro has an Americana. Mircea didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Turturro is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Turturro hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

In his post fight interview, Umberto Turturro started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
