PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Pilapil (ranked 4310 p4p, 146 weight class) and Carter Lynch (ranked 4075 p4p, 143 weight class). Pilapil comes into the arena with I love the Diaz Brothers blaring out of the sound system. Lynch has chosen Skindred - Nobody as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ernesto Pilapil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carter Lynch!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch misses with a series of wild punches.
Pilapil swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Lynch punishes Pilapil's body with a nice straight punch.
Lynch misses with a body shot
and Pilapil counters with a head kick. That will keep Lynch thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Lynch throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Pilapil pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lynch throws out a counter right but Pilapil avoids it with no problem.

Lynch has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pilapil has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Pilapil wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pilapil jumps guard but Lynch stands there with Pilapil around his waist. Pilapil gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Pilapil is trying to force a seperation but Lynch has the dominant position.

Lynch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pilapil is aware though and is defending well.

Pilapil throws an elbow that misses. Lynch uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pilapil's guard. Nice move by Lynch!

Pilapil is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lynch dives into side control.
Lynch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pilapil keeps working.

Lynch closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lynch is looking to control Pilapil's arms but Pilapil gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lynch has his back to the cage.

Lynch gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Pilapil is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lynch dives into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pilapil wants to get back to his feet but Lynch drags him back down.
Pilapil gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Pilapil wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carter Lynch dominated that round.
That's time! Pilapil's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Lynch bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pilapil is looking for a sweep. Lynch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pilapil tries to lock up and control but Lynch gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lynch goes for an armbar but Pilapil turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pilapil.

Pilapil knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lynch on the ground.

Lynch seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lynch sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Pilapil sneaks out the side door and pushes Lynch away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Lynch has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pilapil uses from the top position.

Pilapil jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lynch walks away with a smile on his face. Pilapil gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Lynch throws a sloppy head kick
and Pilapil finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Lynch shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lynch was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lynch takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pilapil throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Pilapil lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Carter Lynch is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Ernesto Pilapil showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lynch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
