Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Corassa (ranked 1790 p4p, 102 weight class) and Boris Volkonof (ranked 1595 p4p, 90 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corassa lands with a kick to the temple. Volkonof shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Volkonof misses with a body punch
and Corassa counters with a nice uppercut.

Volkonof looks to score with a jab to the body but Corassa is just out of range.
Volkonof is still on wobbly legs! Can Corassa finish him?

Corassa digs a right hand into Volkonof's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Volkonof's gas tank.
Volkonof drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Corassa gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Volkonof has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
