PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Cain (ranked 1167 p4p, 146 weight class) and Beta Knox (ranked 1068 p4p, 131 weight class). Knox has chosen Anthrax | Fight Em Till You Can't as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Beta Knox!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox throws a right hand that Cain ducks under and follows up with a left that Cain also avoids with ease.
Knox getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Cain really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cain uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Knox.
Knox looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Knox moves out of range of the strikes.

Knox feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Knox throws a strike but Cain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Knox holds on and takes a little breather.
Knox looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cain puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Knox is trying to maintain the position but Cain is very close to passing his half guard.
Knox makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Knox.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knox tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Cain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Knox has Cain pulled in close to control his posture.
Cain won't allow Knox to sweep him here.
Knox is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Knox stalling away here and it's allowed Cain to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knox missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knox throws a strike but Cain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Cain stands and steps away. Knox gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cain moves out of range as Knox strikes.
Cain missing with a left hand there. Knox was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cain avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cain steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Knox.
Cain ducks under a wild hook from Knox.
Sloppy strikes from Knox. Those never looked like landing.
David Cain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Knox jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cain stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cain wants it to stay on the feet.
Knox misses with a left hand
and Cain counters with a nice kick to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A left lands for Knox.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cain lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cain misses with an uppercut. Knox saw that one coming.
Cain misses with a head kick.
Knox takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Cain misses with a body shot.
Knox throws out a loose jab but Cain uses good head movement to avoid it.
Knox blocks a head kick by Cain.
A telegraphed right hand from Knox misses the target.
Cain fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Knox might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Knox rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Knox takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Knox throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Cain to counter with a crisp jab.
Cain misses with a hook.
Knox appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
A jab from Knox does it's job there.
Knox lands a glancing blow to the side of Cain's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Knox scores with a jab to the head.
A punch combination from Cain misses.
Cain ducks right into an uppercut from Knox.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Knox throws a hook to the side of Cain's head but Cain sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Knox's corner calls for a 1-2. Knox obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


Cain is rocked!
Knox fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Oh Cain is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Knox misses with a hook.
Cain takes one to the side of the head.
Cain is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nice defenses there by Knox.
Cain uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Knox.
Some bone on bone action there as Knox checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Cain misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Knox.
Knox misses the jab.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Knox! Cain is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Beta Knox!
A relieved looking Beta Knox thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
