PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Ispa (ranked 10 p4p, 4 weight class) and Kassim Magufuli I V (ranked 6 p4p, 2 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
19 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Tank Ispa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kassim Magufuli I V!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ispa moves into the clinch.
Ispa fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ispa misses with a hook from the clinch.
Magufuli I V throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Magufuli I V breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ispa throws a push kick but Magufuli I V slaps the foot to one side.
It seemed like Magufuli I V was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Ispa bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Magufuli I V's head.
Ispa doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Magufuli I V connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Magufuli I V waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ispa.
Magufuli I V throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ispa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ispa misses the jab.
Magufuli I V is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Ispa with a body shot.
Magufuli I V throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ispa thows a leg kick but Magufuli I V checks it
and Magufuli I V counters with a crisp right hand that drops Ispa! Magufuli I V lets Ispa back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
It looks like Tank Ispa has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ispa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Magufuli I V, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ispa keeps control of Magufuli I V as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Magufuli I V breaks the clinch.
Magufuli I V stuns Ispa with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ispa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Magufuli I V paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Magufuli I V takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Magufuli I V scores with the left hand. Ispa knows he should have avoided that one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ispa.
Magufuli I V lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Ispa throws a leg kick
and Magufuli I V counters with a huge right that knocks Ispa out cold! Magufuli I V is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kassim Magufuli I V!
