Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Motu Te Tai (ranked 3628 p4p, 384 weight class) and Duke Goodwin (ranked 2143 p4p, 244 weight class). Motu Te Tai could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Duke Goodwin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Motu Te Tai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duke Goodwin!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodwin takes a swing at Te Tai's ribcage but misses.
Te Tai throws a lazy head kick

and Goodwin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Te Tai's guard.

Te Tai pushes Goodwin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Goodwin shoots in and bounces Te Tai off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Te Tai is looking to stand up but Goodwin isn't so interested in that idea.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Goodwin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Goodwin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Te Tai has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Goodwin is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Goodwin has hold of one of Te Tai's legs. Te Tai is fighting the takedown attempt but Goodwin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Te Tai is wriggling around but Goodwin manages to pass to half guard.

Goodwin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goodwin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Te Tai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Te Tai tries to get out of the position.
Goodwin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Te Tai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goodwin on the ground.
Still in half guard, Goodwin seems content to control.
Goodwin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Te Tai is trying to stand back up but Goodwin is controlling him
Goodwin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Goodwin connects with a nice short shot to Te Tai's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goodwin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Te Tai with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Te Tai is trying to stand.
Te Tai scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Goodwin manages to mount him!
Goodwin cracks Te Tai with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goodwin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Te Tai's face.
Goodwin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Goodwin cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Goodwin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Te Tai can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Te Tai is rocked!
Goodwin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Oh Te Tai is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Goodwin cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Goodwin controlling the pace for now.

Te Tai is trying to stand.
Te Tai takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Goodwin's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Duke Goodwin!
