PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tsukune Shiba (ranked 2008 p4p, 257 weight class) and Allan Kurma (ranked 1926 p4p, 248 weight class). Shiba comes to the cage accompanied by Fall Out Boy - The Phoenix. Kurma has chosen Hollywood Undead-Everywhere I Go as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tsukune Shiba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Allan Kurma!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shiba fails to land with a series of punches.
And Kurma responds with a good body kick, but Shiba manages to step out the way in time.
A slow jab from Shiba misses its intended target.
Kurma looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Shiba misses with a body punch
and Kurma counters with a nice body shot.
Kurma fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shiba has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kurma. Shiba does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kurma will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Shiba scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kurma in his tracks.


It looks like Allan Kurma has been cut.
Kurma walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shiba throws a body punch but Kurma moves out of range.
Kurma bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Shiba throws a low kick, looking for Kurma's leg but Kurma calmly moves out of range.
Shiba throws a body shot but no joy.
Kurma throws out a counter right but Shiba avoids it with no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurma with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Shiba to score with a decent uppercut.
Shiba lands a really nice looking cross but Kurma seems unphased.
Kurma cracks a nice hook into Shiba's ribs.

Shiba avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kurma misses with a body kick.

Shiba throws out a loose jab but Kurma uses good head movement to avoid it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kurma has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Shiba throws a body kick that misses.
Shiba connects with a right hand. Kurma shakes it off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shiba throws out a loose jab but Kurma uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kurma is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shiba is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Kurma cracks Shiba with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Tsukune Shiba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shiba keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


That has opened up Allan Kurma's cut even more.

Shiba uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kurma.
Shiba thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kurma takes one to the side of the head.
Shiba scores with a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kurma changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Shiba scores with a nice right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kurma. Shiba does a little dance to reset his feet.

A counter left hand to the body from Shiba misses its target.
Shiba uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kurma.
A quick step to the side and Shiba tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kurma slips under a jab from Shiba.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kurma! But no joy.

Shiba feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kurma sprawling to the canvas! Kurma rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Shiba finish him?!


Kurma is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
and Shiba counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Kurma! He's just covering up as Shiba starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tsukune Shiba!
An out of breath Tsukune Shiba thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Allan Kurma stepped up to the mic, saying 'So if I don't booze it I'm gonna lose it'.
