Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Columbus (ranked 5632 p4p, 417 weight class) and Kuuyo Ueda (ranked 5306 p4p, 399 weight class). Chris Columbus has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Columbus goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ueda throws a sloppy head kick
and Columbus decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ueda's guard.
Columbus not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Columbus's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ueda has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at MMA Dojo (Top Gym in Tokyo*) . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

A nice leg kick lands there from Ueda.

Ueda feints and then cracks Columbus's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Columbus down.

It looks like Chris Columbus has been cut.

I was talking to Columbus's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
