PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tong Po (ranked 273 p4p, 38 weight class) and Andy Bangsit (ranked 516 p4p, 76 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tong Po!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 2, fighting out of London, Andy Bangsit!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bangsit moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Bangsit shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Po preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bangsit has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bangsit stands and throws Po's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Bangsit tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bangsit has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bangsit throws an elbow but Po slips to the side and avoids it well.

Bangsit thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bangsit tries for a kimura but Po is defending well.
Po is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bangsit goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Po has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bangsit but great work by Po.
Bangsit tries to buck Po off but Po is having none of it.
Bangsit gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Bangsit wants to improve his position but Po is controlling well.

Bangsit looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Bangsit looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Po pushes past his half guard into mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Po sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Po is looking to work his way around to Bangsit's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bangsit is trying desperately to improve position.
Bangsit tries to improve his position but instead Po has taken his back!
Po controlling well, preventing Bangsit from escaping the position.
Bangsit trying to control the position but Po manages to sink in the hooks.
Bangsit might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Po haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Po doesn't have the hooks in and Bangsit manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bangsit drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bangsit jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bangsit with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bangsit stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Po swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Po trying to control the position here.
Po trying to keep a closed guard but Bangsit is proving a slippery customer.
Bangsit working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Bangsit wants to pass the guard but Po is keeping the position.
Bangsit is looking to work some ground and pound but Po has wrist control.

Bangsit thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bangsit stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Po swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Po knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bangsit on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bangsit is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bangsit thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Po avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bangsit with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Po controlling the position.
Po is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bangsit loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Bangsit dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bangsit misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bangsit shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Po as he avoids it easily.
Po buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Po scores with a decent looking hook.
Tong Po seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Po keeps the fight on the outside.
Po feinted there with a counter leg kick.
We've been told by Po's head coaches at Little Lebowski Urban Achievers Gymnasium that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Po stuffs the takedown.
Po jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Tong Po has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Bangsit.
Po throws a big shot that misses.
Po with a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Po lands a jab to Bangsit's midsection.
Po misses with a low kick.
Po misses with a head kick.
Po throws the left hand but Bangsit avoids the punch easily.
Bangsit changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Bangsit shoots for a double leg takedown but Po sprawls well. He's pushed Bangsit's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bangsit misses with a takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Bangsit fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Po displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Bangsit gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Po makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bangsit is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Po circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Bangsit to the canvas! Bangsit doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Po keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tong Po!
A very excited looking Tong Po made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
