The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Izquierdo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
My spies in Island Sparring inform me that Izquierdo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Izquierdo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rodriguez sees it coming and defends easily.

Izquierdo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rodriguez's head backwards.

Ivan Izquierdo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Izquierdo feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rodriguezs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rodriguez tries to move into range but Izquierdo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Izquierdo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rodriguez on his heels. He'll look to pass Rodriguez's guard now, I'm sure.

Izquierdo is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Rodriguez has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Izquierdo is looking to defend but Rodriguez has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Izquierdo! Rodriguez pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Izquierdo taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jose Rodriguez!
Jose Rodriguez got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
