Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyran Shamus (ranked 6569 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Locke (ranked 6144 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyran Shamus could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Edward Locke's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kyran Shamus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Edward Locke!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Locke as he avoids it easily.
Shamus gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Locke makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
No joy there for Shamus, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Locke has taken the fight to the clinch.

Locke pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Locke throws a head kick but Shamus moves out of range.

Locke tries to keep at a distance but Shamus has taken the fight into the clinch.
Locke should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Shamus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Locke shoots in looking for a takedown. Shamus tries to sprawl out of it but Locke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shamus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Locke shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Locke was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Shamus tries to buck Locke off but Locke is having none of it.

Shamus scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Locke manages to mount him!

Shamus is looking for a sweep. Locke is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Locke content to control rather than advance.
Shamus is pressing down on Locke's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Locke tries to free his leg and advance position but Shamus is retaining full guard.
Shamus is trying to keep Locke in close.
Locke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shamus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shamus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shamus tries to get out of the position.
Locke won't allow Shamus to sweep him here.
Locke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Shamus shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
No luck for Locke with that takedown attempt.
Shamus wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Locke closes the distance and clinches.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shamus shoots in for a takedown but Locke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Locke gets tackled into the cage by Shamus. Shamus maintains the clinch.

Locke is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Locke would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shamus wants to sweep but no luck.

Shamus is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Shamus circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shamus fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Locke checks it well.
Shamus sets himself, and Locke steps forward looking for the clinch! Shamus avoids it this time.

Locke had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shamus defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Locke has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shamus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Locke takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Locke drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Shamus gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Shamus has closed the distance and engaged Locke in a clinch.
Shamus has Locke pressed against the cage.

Shamus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Locke has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Locke is trying to force a seperation but Shamus has the dominant position.
Shamus is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Shamus creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
