Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Dredd (ranked 2228 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturs Shelby (ranked 6439 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Arturs Shelby!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shelby bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dredd is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shelby has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shelby trying to control the action but Dredd is working from the bottom.
Dredd is trying to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dredd looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shelby!

You can see the frustration on Shelby's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Shelby is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dredd is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shelby's shoulder. That is not cool.
Shelby tries to bench press Dredd off him but Dredd keeps the position.

Dredd cracks Shelby with a big right hand but Shelby just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Shelby is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dredd is controlling him well.
Dredd has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Shelby wants to control but Dredd postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dredd thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dredd is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Shelby will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Shelby is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dredd connects with a decent elbow.

Dredd fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shelby sprawls well initially but Dredd persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dredd is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Dredd lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Shelby is just holding on here. Dredd manages to take his back.

Dredd working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Shelby is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Dredd has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Shelby taps out!
