Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thing Thing (ranked 1952 p4p, 208 weight class) and Demetrious Waters (ranked 5108 p4p, 383 weight class). Thing comes to the cage accompanied by Thing. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thing Thing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demetrious Waters!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thing darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Waters is looking to improve his position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Thing lands with a punch from half guard.
Thing takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Thing looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Waters with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Thing is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Waters is just riding it out for now. Thing eventually gives up the hold.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thing connects with a nice short shot to Waters's temple.

Waters is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thing pulls his head out easily.

Thing is trying to control the action in half guard but Waters is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Waters tries to bench press Thing off him but Thing keeps the position.
Thing grinds an elbow into Waters's temple.
Thing connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Waters some visible discomfort.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thing looks up at the clock and then as Waters takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Thing smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Waters is looking to reverse the position.
Waters is still in real trouble! Can Thing finish him?
Waters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Thing moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Thing cracks Waters with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Thing working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Thing lands an elbow.
Thing in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Waters looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Thing turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thing Thing!
After winning the bout, Thing Thing thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
