Uematsu comes to the cage accompanied by Maximum the Hormone - What's Up People?. Koichi Uematsu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koichi Uematsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Georgi Konds!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uematsu showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Konds.
As Konds tries to get set, Uematsu tries to push him back and clinch up but Konds manages to avoid the attempt.
Uematsu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Konds but Konds pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Uematsu looks for a takedown but Konds sprawls well.
Konds lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Uematsu circles away quickly and effectively.
Uematsu slips a jab and a cross from Konds.
Uematsu wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Konds misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jab by Konds.
Sloppy strikes from Konds. Those never looked like landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Konds throws a one two combo.
Konds misses with the combination.
Uematsu throwing a counter right hand but Konds manages to avoid it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Uematsu fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Konds, pushing him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Konds creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A frustrated look appears on Uematsu's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Uematsu drops down looking for an ankle pick but Konds pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koichi Uematsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some wild striking there from Uematsu.
Konds fails to land with a series of punches.
Uematsu dives in for a single leg takedown but Konds sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Despite the aggression on Konds's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Konds fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Uematsu appears to be looking for a big counter.
Konds throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Uematsu crashing down! Uematsu tries to stagger back to his feet but Konds just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Uematsu asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Georgi Konds!
